Is a YouTube transcript to text tool really free?
Yes — ClawGrab is free during the beta (fair-use daily limit): no card, no account needed to start, AI features included.
Does it work on YouTube videos without captions?
If the video has captions, you get the captions verbatim — that works on most videos that have captions. For no-caption videos we fall back to speech-to-text, which is good but imperfect on music and heavy noise. A small share of videos block transcript access entirely (music, live-only, password-gated); ClawGrab tells you exactly what happened and offers a 30-second paste path. No tool gets 100%. We never fake a result.
How fast is it?
Most transcripts come back in seconds. Even large live-stream recordings — we've pulled 12k-word transcripts from YouTube LIVE — land in seconds.
How is this different from YouTube's Show transcript button?
The built-in button is desktop-only, doesn't let you copy the full text on mobile, has no SRT export, and only works on YouTube. ClawGrab also covers Vimeo, TikTok, podcasts and live streams, and formats text for AI tools.
Is the transcript accurate?
For caption-bearing videos, the text is the publisher's own captions — verbatim, no hallucination. Speech-to-text fallback is honest about its limits: heavy music, accents and overlapping speech reduce accuracy. That's why we never claim a fake 100%.
